Speaking Your Truth with Satya: Using Yoga to Overcome Fear

Many of us struggle with speaking our truth—whether out of fear, people-pleasing, or past conditioning. Satya invites us to express ourselves honestly, but with kindness and awareness.

Yoga for Authentic Expression

Throat Chakra Focus: Poses like Fish Pose and Lion’s Breath help open the throat chakra, the center of self-expression.

Breathwork for Confidence: Try Ujjayi breath (ocean breath) to steady your voice and mind.

Mantra Practice: Use the affirmation, My voice matters, and I speak my truth with love.

Practice: A Throat Chakra Flow

Camel Pose (Ustrasana): Open the heart and throat for honest communication.

Fish Pose (Matsyasana): Release tension in the throat and jaw.

Seated Meditation with Mantra: Repeat, I express myself with truth and love.

Your truth is valuable. Practicing Satya means learning to express it—not aggressively, but with clarity and love.

Our mantra for the week is…

I embrace my whole self - past, present and future - with honesty and love.

Our journaling prompts are…

Write about one part of your journey that you find challenging to accept.

Reflect on how embracing your entire self brings you closer to living your truth.

And our meditation is…a meditation to let go of fear.

Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit. Gently close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose… then exhale slowly through your mouth. Feel the weight of your body resting on the earth, steady and supported.

Turn your awareness inward. Notice any tension in your body—perhaps in your shoulders, your jaw, or your heart. Breathe into these spaces, inviting them to soften.

Now, bring your attention to your truth—your Satya.

Deep within you, beyond doubt and hesitation, there is a knowing. A place of clarity. A voice that whispers your truth, even when fear tries to silence it.

Ask yourself gently:

“What truth within me have I been afraid to acknowledge?”

“What fear is holding me back from living fully and authentically?”

There is no need to judge or resist whatever arises. Simply observe. Fear is not your enemy—it is only a messenger, pointing toward the places where you are ready to grow.

Visualize a warm, golden light glowing in your heart. This light represents your truth, your Satya. With each inhale, feel it expanding, growing brighter, stronger. With each exhale, imagine fear dissolving, melting away like mist in the morning sun.

Affirm to yourself:

“I honor my truth, even when it feels uncomfortable.”

“I release fear and trust the wisdom within me.”

“I choose authenticity over perfection, courage over comfort.”

As you sit in this space, know that your truth is always here, waiting to be lived. Fear may arise, but it does not define you. You are not here to shrink—you are here to expand, to express, to embody your deepest truth.

Take one more deep breath in. As you exhale, let go of anything that no longer serves you. Feel yourself lighter, freer, more aligned with your authentic self.

Gently bring your awareness back to the present. Wiggle your fingers and toes. When you’re ready, open your eyes, carrying this sense of truth and fearlessness with you.

Walk forward knowing that your truth is your strength. You are safe to be fully, unapologetically you.
